Jill

McGannon

Jill Schultz McGannon completed her BFA and MFA in Drawing and Painting from the University of Georgia in 1985 and 1988, and has made a living as an artist since then.  After graduating, she studied with Gregg Kreutz, David Leffel, Terry Miura, Marc Hanson, and others.  Her work can be seen at Mason Fine Art in Atlanta, Georgia and Addington  Gallery in Chicago, Illinois.  She paints realistic landscape, figure and still life paintings in oils, preferring to work from life whenever possible.   Her favorite destinations for plein air landscape painting include the Georgia coast and mountains, the mountains of North Carolina, and the Italian countryside.   The smaller plein air works are often used as references to paint larger paintings in the studio.  Jill lives in the Atlanta area.  In the last few years, she was accepted into the Oil Painters of America Eastern Regional Exhibition for 2015, and the National Juried show for American Women Artists for 2015, as well as the National Juried Exhibition for Women Painters of the Southeast in 2015, 2016, and 2017. She is also a member of ELPA, Eastern League of Regional Artists and exhibited with them in 2017.  For Jill's show schedule, please sign the email list.

“For me, landscape painting is a search for the phenomenally beautiful.   I try to find a view with a little bit of magic and then magnify it.”
